5th Annual Black & White Ball Takes Place NEXT SATURDAY

Press invited to attend event, meet guests and speakers- one week after results of HIV vaccine trial- RV 144 is shown to reduce transmission by 31%

 

WHAT:     

5th Annual Black & White Ball, a formal/black tie optional, gala fundraising event for HIV/AIDS prevention and care in Northern Nevada. Expected to host nearly 400 guests, it will feature special celebrity appearances, a silent auction, live music and dancing, and an exceptional dinner menu. Tickets to the event are $75.

 

The Black & White Ball takes place just one week after the results from the RV 144 HIV Vaccine trial, by the US Military and the government of Thailand, found that a combination of two prior HIV vaccines have shown a 31% success rate in reducing HIV infection.  

 

WHO:            

 Headlining this year's Black & White Ball is Jack Mackenroth, HIV/AIDS Advocate and Fashion Designer best known for his work on Project Runway.  Mackenroth is also an accomplished American model and World Record Breaking Swimmer. Mackenroth exemplifies great achievement while living with HIV.  His honesty and openness have           inspired millions across the globe.  Also appearing are; Sparks Mayor Geno Martini; Dr. Trudy Larson, an HIV specialist; musical performers Escalade; and the Reno Dance Company.  Jack Mackenroth and Dr.  Trudy Larson are available for interview prior to the event.

WHY:            

Funds raised through this event will benefit the Northern Nevada Outreach  Team and Northern Nevada HOPES programs and services, which provide assistance to the almost 1,000 people here in northern Nevada living with  HIV/AIDS. The Black & White Ball is their largest fundraiser of the year.
